
Lady Raiders head to Vegas for Las Vegas Invite

Tech will face Middle Tennessee and Mercer, Friday and Saturday
LAS VEGAS – The Texas Tech Lady Raiders head to beautiful Las Vegas for the Las Vegas Invitational hosted by Sports Tours International and the Mirage Hotel.
Texas Tech (3-1) opens the 10-team event on Friday with a clash with Middle Tennessee at 1 p.m. (CT). The Lady Raiders close out the two-day event with a matchup against Mercer at 10 p.m. (CT).

Bolstered by strong early performances from freshman Bailey Maupin and junior post-player Jazmaine Lewis, the Texas Tech Lady Raiders cruised by the University of Louisiana, 64-48, Sunday afternoon from the CAJUN Dome.
In the victory, Maupin led the way for Texas Tech (3-1), scoring 13 points on efficient 3-of-5 shooting. With her 13-point performance, Maupin has now reached double figures in the first four games of her Lady Raider career.
Other strong performances included 12 points and five rebounds from Lewis and 10 points and two steals from Rhyle McKinney.
Like Maupin, McKinney has now also recorded double figure scoring in all four games this season.
The duo were two of seven players selected to the WNIT All-Tournament team after averaging 17.7 points (McKinney) and 15 points (Maupin) respectively over the three games.
With the win, the Lady Raiders share the Preseason WNIT team title with the University of Colorado and Jackson State. Colorado's Quay Miller earned Most Valuable Player honors.
For the game, Tech shot a blistering 24-of-39 from the field (61.5 percent) and 6-for-11 (54.5 percent) from three.
On the defensive end of the floor, the Lady Raiders held Louisiana to just 15-of-60 shooting (25 percent) and 5-of-23 shooting. In the first half, the suffocating Tech defense held Louisiana to 1-of-11 shooting from behind the arc and to just 4-for-29 (13.8 percent) from the field.
BIG JAZZ = BIG IMPACT
• Jazmaine "Big Jazz" Lewis has made a massive impact in all three Lady Raider wins this season. After scoring a career-best 15 points and grabbing 7 rebounds in the Lady Raiders 69-49 victory over Texas A&M Corpus Christi, Lewis scored 11 points on perfect 5-of-5 shooting against Colorado. In Lewis' 18 minutes she also grabbed six rebounds. Against Louisiana, Lewis scored 12 points and grabbed five rebounds in just 18 minutes of action. The Lady Raiders are 3-0 this season when she reaches double figures in a contest.
• In the victory over Colorado, Lewis scored five massive points in the fourth that helped send the game into overtime. In the extra session, Lewis got in double figures on a baby hook-shot with 31 seconds remaining. The shot not only gave the Lady Raiders an 86-85 victory, it turned out to be the overall game-winner.

The Lady Raiders return home to United Supermarkets Arena for a Dec. 1 contest against Alabama State. The game opens an eight-game homestand for the Lady Raiders and the first of three games in six days.

The 11 first half points allowed are the fewest in a first half by the Lady Raiders since 2010 vs. American. The Lady Raiders have now allowed fewer than 50 points in two of the first three games.

• Freshman Bailey Mapuin continues to cement herself as one of the best freshmen in the Big 12 Conference. After scoring in double figures all three games last week, including a 20-point performance against Colorado, Maupin was selected as Big 12 Freshman of the Week. Maupin became just the fourth Lady Raider true freshman since the 2000-01 season to open her career with four straight games with at least 10+ points. The list includes former Big 12 Freshman of the Year and current assistant coach Plenette Pierson, Jia Perkins and Arella Guirantes
