
Men’s tennis rebounds for victory over LSU

Franco Ribero secured Tech’s 4-2 victory over the Tigers
DALLAS – The Texas Tech men's tennis program rebounded for a big 4-2 victory over the LSU Tigers Thursday afternoon at the Bayard H. Friedman Tennis Center.
Texas Tech (6-5) got off to a good start on Thursday, as Isaac Arevalo and Piotr Pawlak helped set the tone in double action. The duo defeated Vlad Lorak and Gabriel Diaz of LSU 6-4. Tech sealed the doubles point with a big 7-5 victory from Reed Collier and Dimitrios Azoidis.
In singles action, Tech received big performances on court three, four and five. As he has much of the season, Azoidis was nails on court five winning a straight set match (7-5, 6-3) to put Tech back in front after LSU (5-2) evened the match at one.
True freshman Olle Wallin continued his strong freshman campaign, as the native of Sweden also won in straight sets to bring Tech to within one point of clinching the win.
After LSU won a tough three-set battle on court one, Franco Ribero won a 6-4 third set to give the Red Raiders the victory.
With his win today, Azoidis improved to 6-1 this spring.

After a hectic six-match stretch in just 13 days, the Red Raiders wont return to action until next Saturday (Feb. 26) when they host Denver. First serve from the McLeod Tennis Center is set for 1 p.m.
