Morris picks up second Big 12 weekly award

IRVING, Texas – Texas Tech junior-transfer Andrew Morris was named the Big 12 Co-Newcomer of the Week, the league announced on Monday. It is Morris' second Newcomer of the Week award in the past three weeks.
Morris threw seven innings, striking out nine without a walk as he picked up a win against Kansas State on Friday. The Colorado Mesa transfer allowed three runs on six hits, but it was more than enough for a 6-3 Red Raider victory.
Morris owns a 3.74 ERA for the season in seven starts (4-0), but over his last five starts he owns a 2.36 ERA and is 4-0. He has 38 strikeouts and eight walks during that span.
West Virginia's Austin Davis (Player), Texas' Pete Hansen (Pitcher) and Oklahoma State's Roc Riggio (Co-Newcomer) were selected for Big 12 baseball weekly awards by a five-person media panel, through games of April 10.
