
Tech closes regular season at TCU

Tech and TCU will clash at 11 a.m. Saturday
FORT WORTH – The Texas Tech women's tennis program closes out its 2022 regular season on Saturday morning when they head to Fort Worth to clash with TCU. First serve from the Bayard H. Friedman Tennis Center is set for 11 a.m.
Looking to improve its seeding for next week's Big 12 Championships, Texas Tech (13-9, 3-5 Big 12) returns to action for the first time since Apr. 3 on Saturday. The Lady Raiders enter the weekend tied with Kansas and Iowa State for fifth place in the tight Big 12 standings.
If Texas Tech were to finish fifth, No. 4 Baylor would await in the second round on Friday. If the Lady Raiders finish sixth, No. 3 Texas would be Tech's first opponent. With a loss and a pair of wins by KU and Iowa State, Tech would finish seventh and would open the Big 12 Championships on Thursday against No. 10 WVU.

In the matchup against the Cowgirls, Tech won the doubles point and received a three-set win by Mekta Komac. Against OU, the two Tech points came from freshman Avelina Sayfetdinova and Olivia Peet. Sayfetdinova downed then No. 56 Ivana Corley in straight sets, while Peet defeated Carmen Corley in straight sets. A pair of Lady Raiders are ranked in this week's updated ITA rankings, as Margarita Skriabina checks in at No. 26. Sayfetdinova is the other Tech individual to be ranked. The freshman is ranked 89th overall. Sayfetdinova and doubles partner Kailey Evans are ranked No. 58 in this week's doubles rankings.
