STARTERS
Tuesday's meeting will be the 127th all-time between Texas Tech and New Mexico, and while Tech owns a commanding 50-20 advantage in games played in Lubbock, the series is split right down the middle, 27-27-1 in games played in Albuquerque. Tech has played New Mexico more times than any school that has never been a part of the Big 12.

Texas Tech climbed as high as a consensus Top 5 team in the rankings released on April 4 while sporting a 24-6 record. Since, the Red Raiders remain a Top 10 team in three different ranking systems, including a No. 9 ranking in the D1Baseball poll - the primary ranking system used by the NCAA and the Big 12. Tech is 3-7 in its last 10 games since the April 4 rankings.Â
WHAT IS HAPPENING
Tech is experiencing a four-game losing streak. The last time Tech lost four-straight within the same season was a five-game skid in 2015. Tech also lost five in a row when looking at the last two games of 2020 and the first three of 2021.

SCORING IN BUNCHES
Texas Tech ranks No. 1 in the nation in runs scored with 360 and Virginia is sitting behind with 354. Tech owns 14 different games of double-digit scoring this season and on March 15 in a 28-2 win against New Mexico, scored at least 28 runs in a game for just the seventh time in program history. Tech achieved that mark for the eighth time in program history less than three weeks later defeating Kansas 28-2.Â
WALK IT OUT
Texas Tech batters have registered 238 walks this season after 39 games, ranking No. 2 in NCAA DI baseball. Mercer is No. 1 with 239. Jace Jung leads the nation in walks with 42.Â

SCOUTING - NEW MEXICO
- New Mexico is 14-21 this season and is 6-8 at home. The Lobos have more wins on the road (8).Â
- The Lobos were swept at home last weekend by San Diego State.
- Texas Tech and New Mexico share a common in Arizona. The Wildcats defeated the Lobos 12-5 in Tucson on March 8 while UNM defeated Arizona at home on March 23, 12-7.
- Mountain West head coaches tabbed New Mexico to finish sixth out of seven teams in their annual preseason poll. Nevada was picked to finish first, followed by UNLV, San Diego State, Fresno State, Air Force, New Mexico, and San Jose State.
- Pitcher Tristin Lively represented New Mexico on the Mountain West Preseason All-Conference Team.
- New Mexico is led by first-year head coach Tod Brown. He was named the 12th head baseball coach at New Mexico on June 17, 2021, replacing Ray Birmingham who retired after leading the Lobos over the previous 14 seasons.
