Preview: Tech makes midweek stop in Abilene

The Red Raiders will make a pit stop in Abilene to play ACU on Wednesday before heading to Waco.
LUBBOCK, Texas – Texas Tech softball (21-20) will play just its second midweek contest of the season when the Red Raiders travel southeast to Abilene to face Abilene Christian (19-23) Wednesday at 5:00 p.m. at Poly Wells Field.
The Red Raiders make the stop on the way to Waco to take on Baylor for a three-game series April 22-24.

The Red Raiders travel to Abilene for the eighth time in the series history, Tech has won six of the previous seven meetings. Tech owns the overall series with a 15-3 record against the Wildcats. The two teams met most recently last season in Lubbock at the Texas Tech Invitational. The Red Raiders won both meetings. The last time Tech lost in Abilene was on April 10, 2018, when the Red Raiders fell 11-10.
Tech is coming off an important series win against Iowa State in which the Red Raiders put up 29 runs in the series. After falling in game one to the Cyclones, the Red Raiders responded with a pair of run rule wins to take the series.
Abilene Christian has struggled lately as the Wildcats have fallen in five straight games. The Wildcats are 0-3 this season against Power 5 opponents and 3-8 against common opponents (North Texas, Tarleton State, Incarnate Word, Tulsa) while the Red Raiders are 6-2 against those opponents.
The Red Raiders are 2-0 this season against the Western Athletic Conference picking up wins against California Baptist and Tarleton State earlier this season.
