Preview: Tech heads to Waco for series with Baylor

The last time the Red Raiders played in Waco they swept the series.
WACO, Texas – After a tough midweek road loss to Abilene Christian on Wednesday night, the Red Raiders look to bounce back in Waco as they face the Baylor Bears in a three-game series Friday, April 22 through Sunday, April 24 at Getterman Satdium.

Tech heads to Waco for the first time since 2019 when the Red Raiders swept the Bears for the first time in over 10 years. The Red Raiders currently sit at fourth in the Big 12 standings at 4-8, just ahead of Baylor at 2-7, setting the stage for a crucial Big 12 series for both teams. Tech can stay in the fourth position if it can take a game from the Bears and further solidify its spot with a series win.
Last season, Baylor swept Tech in Lubbock, but the Red Raiders got the last laugh, taking down the Bears 8-6 in the Big 12 tournament. Tech has won five of the last eight meetings with the Bears.
The Red Raiders won the series against Iowa State last weekend on the road while the Bears had a weekend off from Big 12 play, winning a pair of games against Sam Houston. Baylor picked up a midweek win in extra innings at UT Arlington, while the Red Raiders fell to Abilene Christian on the road.
Tech is 9-22 all time in Waco as the Bears lead the overall series 54-19. The last time Tech played in Waco the Red Raiders swept the series against the Bears winning 6-2, 11-2 and 11-6. The wins were the first in Waco since 2013 and the first three-game sweep of the Bears in program history.
