Jung named to CoSIDA Academic All-America First Team
June 08, 2022 | Baseball
LUBBOCK, Texas – Texas Tech's Jace Jung was named a 2022 Academic All-America® first-team honoree, announced on Wednesday by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).
Jung is one of six student-athletes to earn a repeat selection on the Academic All-America® Division I baseball teams, and one of just two that went back-to-back on the first team. Jung is the first Red Raider since 1995-96 to repeat as a first-team CoSIDA academic all-American when Clint Bryant earned the honors.
The announcement adds to Jung's already long resume of honors. Last week Jung was named a second-team All-American by Collegiate Baseball News to add to his first-team All-Big 12 selection. He is currently one of 31 Golden Spikes semifinalists, an award that honors the top amateur baseball player in the country.
On May 12, Jung and Easton Murrell were named to the CoSIDA Academic All-District first team and became eligible at that time to advance to the CoSIDA Academic All-America ballot. All nominees must have had a 3.30 GPA or higher to go along with significant on-field contributions.
