
Red Raiders wrap up day one of NCAA Championships

Malik Metivier finished with the fastest heat time overall
EUGENE, Ore. – The Texas Tech men closed out day one of the NCAA Championships as three Red Raiders booked lanes for Friday's finals Wednesday evening at Hayward Field.
TTU's 4x100 team – Adam Clayton, Lindsey, Ashton O'Conner and Jacolby Shelton – placed 16th (39.22), while Lindsey (10.19) and Terrence Jones, Jr., (10.23) finished ninth and 12th, respectively, in the 100m. Each of them, including the entire sprint relay team, earned Second Team All-American honors.

Moad Zahafi was the first to book his Friday lane as he placed first in his heat with a time of 1:46.66 in the 800m – overall it was the fourth-fastest time of the evening.Day 1 ?

Not too long after, Malik Metivier burned through the 400 hurdles field with a lifetime best mark of 48.89 – two straight meets now with consecutive personal bests. He was the only athlete to go sub 49 in the event as it stood first overall and tied Tech's third-best mark of all-time.We'll see Moad in the final Friday ??

Despite not making the finals in the 100m, Courtney Lindsey nabbed the seventh spot in the 200m with a time of 20.32, finishing second in his heat.He's a baaaaaad man. @_MalikMetivier closes his heat with a new PB of 48.89 ??
