On The Lookout
Usoro will be looking to defend her 2021 triple jump title for the final time as it's her last season as a Red Raider. She leaped 14.19m (46-6.75) for the crown at last season's meet. Usoro will also be competing in the long jump. Staying on the horizontals, Monae' Nichols looks to make some noise in the long jump. She holds the No. 2 mark in the world at 6.97m (22-10.50) – 2022 Big 12 Championships.
Zahafi has held the top 800m time in the world since April 16 where he clocked in at 1:43.69 – this week he enters at the top seed after his 1:44.65 run at the west prelims. The Big 12 100 hurdles champion, Demisha Roswell, will be one of the favorites this week. Her run of 12.44 at the conference meet put her on the global map as the current No. 2 time.
Two sprinters will be doubling for Tech in the 100m and 200m. Chukwuma leads the women's side with her top time this season in the 100m being 11.05 and her 200m mark at 22.33. Lindsey has set PB's in both events this season. He clocked in a 10.05 in the 100m back in late April and a 20.15 in the 200m at the west prelims a week and a half ago.
Jones Jr., has ran the 100m three times in his career and will look to run it two more times this week, vying for a finals spot. Markim Felix has five javelin throws under his belt in 2022 – two at Big 12s and three at west regionals. At last season's meet, Usual placed third in discus – highest finish – and will go one more time in her final year as a Red Raider.
