
Tech faces Louisiana in home opener

LUBBOCK, Texas – For the first time this spring season, the Texas Tech men's tennis team will compete in its first dual match at home as they welcome the Louisiana Rajin' Cajuns to Lubbock on Sunday, January 15 at 10 a.m. in The Falls Tennis Club (4705 112th Street).
The Red Raiders (0-2) played two matches in Knoxville, Tenn., on Monday and Tuesday this past week, dropping tough matches to both No. 6 Tennessee and Charlotte.
In the match against the 49ers, freshman Lorenzo Esquici notched his first career win as a Red Raider when he defeated Brett Gloria at court six, 6-7 (3), 6-1, 6-1. Franco Ribero also posted a singles win after beating Abhimanyu Vannemreddy at court three in straight-sets, 6-4, 7-6 (5).
This Sunday marks the first home dual match for the Red Raiders this season and will be held at The Falls Tennis Club.
ABOUT THE OPPONENT
Louisiana will play in its first dual match of the season on Sunday. Last year, they compiled an overall record of 17-6 with a 4-2 conference record. The Rajin' Cajuns also defeated Texas Tech in Lubbock last season by a 4-1 score. Louisiana returns eight players from last year, while adding three freshmen in Evan Edwards, Thomas Garbarino and William Ribero to the roster.
