Red Raiders set for NCAA Indoor Championships

Nine men and four women are slated to compete for Tech
LUBBOCK, Texas – Select members of the Texas Tech track and field team are set to compete in the 2023 NCAA Indoor Championships Friday through Sunday inside the Albuquerque Convention Center.

Tech is coming off a week's break following the Big 12 Indoor Championships, which the men's side captured with 159 points. TTU produced five individual winners from the men and two from the women. It was the third overall indoor crown for the men and first since 2019.
Rankings
In the week seven rankings before heading into the 2023 NCAA Indoor Championships, the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) has the Texas Tech men ranked No. 3 and the women No. 11. The men moved up one spot while the women jumped up two places.
On the Lookout
Bradford will be TTU's first final event Friday as he goes in the pole vault in an anticipated No. 1 and No. 2 matchup with Princeton's Sondre Guttormsen who's ranked the top guy coming into the meet. They both duked it out earlier in Albuquerque as Bradford went 5.83m (19-1 ½) while Guttormsen topped at 5.90m (19-4 ¼).
Tech enters the meet with two national leaders in their respective events, Jones in the 60m (6.46) and Lindsey in the 200m (20.13).
TTU will look to capture more points on the short hurdles side with Dean and Andrews as bot their 60m hurdles times are each in the top-4. Dean enters the meet with a time of 7.52 (No. 2) – Big 12 indoor championship winning time – and Andrews comes in at 7.59 (No. 4).
Chukwuma will be the only Red Raider doubling this week as she goes in the 60m and 200m. Her 7.09 60m time is ranked fourth while her 22.68 time is ranked seventh. Roswell's hurdles time of 7.98 from January is ranked No. 3 entering this weekend as she claimed the Big 12 title last weekend.
In the women's triple jump, Fosther-Katta and Obamuwagun each come in ranked inside the top-8. Fosther-Katta etched a mark of 13.76m (45-1 ¾) to win the Big 12 title. That mark sits fourth in the country. Obamuwagun ranks eighth at 13.54m (44-5 ¼) – second at Big 12s.
