The Red Raiders finished at -19 to advance to NCAA Championships for the fourth time in program history
PULLMAN, Wash. – The Texas Tech women's golf facility is getting a new banner, as the Texas Tech women's golf program used a couple of clutch birdie putts to advance to the NCAA Championships for the fourth time in program history.
Holding off a late charge from the University of Kentucky, Texas Tech received three clutch late birdies from Libby Fleming as well as a pair of late birdies from Shannon Tan and Chiara Horder.
Fleming was clutch when the Red Raiders needed her, carding a bogey-free 31 on the back nine that included three straight birdies on 15, 16 and 17.
Entering the day in second place, Tech withstood the late charge from the Wildcats who used a round of 271 (-17) go from one-over par to an incredible -16 for the week.
For the week, three Red Raiders finished under par, highlighted by a top-five finish from Tan, who ended the week at -13. Horder finished at -6 for the week (T-13) while junior Gala Dumez finished at -2 to end up the week inside the top-30.
The appearance at Grayhawk is the first for the Red Raiders since the 2016-17 season.
No. 1 seed Stanford ended the championship at -50 to roll to the regional title, while No. 24 Clemson used a final round 270 (-18) to finish second at -33. No. 13 USC ended at -26 to finish third, with No. 12 Baylor (-23) claiming fourth.
Stanford's Rose Zhang closed with four straight birdies to end at -19 overall, earning individual medalist honors.
UC Riverside's Tiffany Le used a birdie-eagle finish to close out a final round 66 that earned her the lowest score by an individual of a non-advancing team.

Tech women's golf will embark on the 2023 NCAA Championships hosted by Arizona State and Grayhawk Golf Club. The Red Raiders will arrive in Scottsdale on May 16 ahead of the opening round of May 19. The 30 teams that have advanced will play three rounds/54 holes (May 19-21) of stroke play with the top-15 teams and nine individuals not on an advancing team moving on to the fourth round of stroke play. On May 22, the final 15 teams will compete for the eight spots in the match play portion that begins on May 23.
