
Sprints, hurdles highlight final day for Tech men

It took Caleb Dean less than two hours to qualify in both the 110 and 400 hurdles
SACRAMENTO, Calif. – Texas Tech had three student-athletes double in three individual events as the men wrapped up their week competing in the NCAA West First Round preliminaries Friday evening at Hornet Stadium.
Courtney Lindsey and Terrence Jones qualified in the 100m and 200m, while Caleb Dean qualified in the 110m and 400m hurdles.
Beginning with the 100m, Jones and Lindsey finished 2nd and 3rd, respectively, overall. Jones clocked in at 9.93 (1.4w) only to be edged out in the same heat to Stanford's Udodi Onwuzurike's time of 9.92. Meanwhile, Lindsey won his heat with a new PB time of 10.02 (1.8w). Both those time land in Tech's all-time top-10 as Jones moves to No. 3 and Lindsey to No. 7.

Dean started his evening qualifying in the 110 hurdles taking 3rd in his heat with a PB time of 13.47 (1.7w). Just under two hours later, Dean completed his end of the double with the second-best time overall clocking in at 48.43. Devin Roberson was the first Red Raider to punch his ticket to Austin. Roberson placed 10th in the discus with a heave of 57.55m (188-9). The 4x100 team of Nylo Clarke, Lindsey, Adam Clayton and Jones combined for a time of 39.16 for a trip to the semifinals in two weeks.All in just under two hours, Caleb Dean qualifies in the 110 hurdles and then 400 hurdles ????

Keyshawn King punched his ticket in the triple jump bounding 16.15m (2.2w) (53-0), placing 3rd overall. Freshman sensation Antoine Andrews kept his season alive qualifying in the 110 hurdles with a time of 13.74 (1.7) as he finished 3rdin his heat for the auto-qualifier. - Roberson, Andrews, Clarke and Edlund will all be attending their first NCAA Outdoor Championships meet.
- Clayton finished 16th overall in the 100m securing a new PB time of 10.27 (1.9w). He finished 15th in the 200m with a time of 20.85 (0.4w).
