LUBBOCK, Texas – The Texas Tech men's tennis team is set to compete against players from Wake Forest, Tennessee, Clemson, Cornell, Michigan State and Columbia at the Wake Forest Hidden Duals tournament on Sept. 15-17. The Red Raiders are sending Reed Collier, Lorenzo Esquici, Piotr Pawlak and Olle Wallin to the competition as play will begin on Friday morning.
Last weekend, Tech competed at the Midland Racquet Club Invitational where Tyler Stewart earned a semifinal appearance in singles and Takeyasu Sekiguchi won the Bronze Draw.
In 2023, Collier collected nine singles wins, mostly at court four, and eight victories at the top of the lineup in doubles. Pawlak was the Big 12 doubles champion at court two after both him and Franco Ribero posted a 13-5 record at the position. Esquici came to Lubbock in January and tallied the highest amount of singles wins on the team with 16 and 12 of those coming at line five.
Wallin just claimed his career-high in singles rankings after checking in at No. 30 in the ITA Preseason Rankings on Sept. 5. Wallin played singles at the top court last year, earning First Team All-Big 12 Singles and a bid into the NCAA Tournament with 15 total victories and nine ranked ones.
The Red Raiders will begin on Friday, Sept. 15 against players from Clemson and Cornell with doubles starting at 12 p.m. ET and singles to follow.
