Arizona State sweeps the Red Raiders
LUBBOCK, Texas – The Texas Tech volleyball team (9-8, 1-4) dropped its match to No. 13 Arizona State (16-2, 5-1) on Saturday afternoon in the United Supermarkets Arena by scores of 22-25, 21-25 and 20-25.
The Red Raiders out blocked the Sun Devils and kept each set close with 19 ties and six lead changes throughout the game but were not able to close out the sets as Arizona State recorded 53 kills as a team.
The teams came into the match as the Big 12 leaders in aces per set, but both teams did well to limit those as they combined for just five.
Brynn Williams led Tech with nine kills and 10.5 points while racking up seven digs. Maddie Correa finished with a team-high 25 digs and added three assists.
Mia Wesley and Emily Merrick combined for 14 kills and three blocks as middles Reagan Leinen and Aliyah McDonald combined for seven kill and three blocks.
Setters Hanna Borer and Katelyn Cochran combined for 37 assists and 12 digs with Borer taking the lead on both as she finished with 16 assists and eight digs.
UP NEXT: The Red Raiders will stay at home for their next match as they face No. 22 TCU at 6 p.m. on Wednesday in the United Supermarkets Arena.
