Tech falls to No. 18 TCU in three
LUBBOCK, Texas – The Texas Tech volleyball team (9-9, 1-5) was swept by scores of 21-25, 20-25 and 13-25 against No. 18 TCU (13-4, 5-2) on Wednesday night. Mia Wesley led the team with 13 kills and 13 points while hitting an efficient .250.
The Red Raiders again had a gritty performance in the first two sets, keeping things close and not allowing big runs by the Horned Frogs.
Tech out hit TCU in the first set, with 15 kills and hit .303 to the Horned Frogs 14 kills and .286 hitting percentage. TCU stepped up its game, however, hitting .350 in set two and .433 in the final set.
Maddie Correa led the defense recording 13 digs, her 15th match with 10 or more digs, and was a perfect 11-for-11 on serve receive. Wesley was behind Correa with nine digs and Emily Contreras racked up six digs.
Katelyn Cochran finished with 16 assists followed by Hanna Borers 12. Borer is now just six assists away from 2,000.
Brynn Williams recorded nine kills and a block to reach 10 points. Emily Merrick and Aliyah McDonald both recorded five kills with McDonald hitting an impressive .833 for the match.
