Iowa State ends three-game losing streak with sweep over Red Raiders
AMES, Iowa – Aliyah McDonald led the way for the Red Raiders with eight kills on .538 hitting on an otherwise tough night in Hilton Coliseum as Iowa State (9-8, 3-3) swept Tech by scores of 25-11, 25-20 and 25-18.
The Red Raiders (9-10, 1-6) were not able to stop Amiree Hendricks-Walker as she went for 10 kills with no errors on .667 hitting percentage for the Cyclones.
Rachel Van Gorp and Faith DeRonde also finished with 10 kills, as Iowa State hit .337 as a team. Van Gorp recorded another double-double as she also racked up 11 digs which was second best on the team behind Brooke Stonestreet's 16.
Maddie Correa recorded 12 digs while Hanna Borer dished out 14 assists to lead the Red Raiders in those respective categories. Borer reached 2,000 assists on a nice set to Brynn Williams in the second set.
The Cyclones recorded eight service aces to Tech's two. Neither team got a consistent blocking presence, as Iowa State finished with five and Tech with four.
UP NEXT: Tech remains on the road next week as they take on Cincinnati and West Virginia.
