Stokmans fires a 68 to lead Tech on final day at CSWC

FORT WORTH, Texas -- The Texas Tech women's golf team closed its fall season on Tuesday with the final round of the Charles Schwab Women's Collegiate, hosted by TCU at Ridglea Country Club. Despite a disappointing 10th-place finish, the Red Raiders posted their lowest team round of the event in the final round, which was powered by Danique Stokmans' best performance of the fall, a 3-under-par 68.
Stokmans' final round, paired with Maja Ambroziak's steady play, placed the duo in a tie for 24th at the event to lead the Red Raiders' effort.
Stokmans powered through day two jumping 18 spots on the leaderboard, previously finishing day one tied in 42nd. The senior tied her career-low (68) on Tuesday, matching a mark set while at Oregon State. With four birdies and an eagle, her second eagle of the event and third of the fall, Stokmans finished 3-under-par in the final round. Among the 60 individuals in action, Stokmans was the only player to own two eagles at the event, in round one and round three, both on hole 18.
Ambroziak, who shared the Red Raiders' mark for lowest 54-hole score with Stokmans, carded a 5-over-par 76 in the final round. She tied for 24th place using two solid rounds on Monday (71-73).
As a team, Texas Tech finished the final round 11-over-par (295). Lauren Zaretsky helped the Red Raiders in the final round with five birdies, carding a 1-over-par 72, her lowest round of the tournament.
The Red Raiders finished the fall season in 10th place at 50-over-par (902). Wake Forest won the event at 5-over while Texas A&M finished second at 7-over.
Texas Tech will resume its season in the spring, Feb.3-4, at the FAU Paradise Invitational in Boca Raton, Fla.
