Buffaloes earn their first Big 12 win of the season
BOULDER, COLORADO – The Texas Tech volleyball team (9-7, 1-3) fell in a five-set battle to Colorado (8-8, 1-3) on Saturday night in Boulder.
Mia Wesley and Brynn Williams both finished with double-doubles. Wesley ended with 12 kills and 11 digs while Williams had a team-high 14 kills and 13 digs.
Emily Merrick added 12 kills and hit .435 percent. Reagan Leinen finished with eight kills and also was efficient, hitting .353 percent.
Reagan Engler added five kills and four blocks as she returned to action tonight.
Hanna Borer and Katelyn Cochran combined for 39 assists, Cochran leading the way with 21. Borer added nine digs and two aces.
Maddie Correa held down the back line with another double-digit dig performance, racking up a team high 14.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
The Red Raiders landed the first blow, taking set one 25-21 before the Buffaloes responded with wins in set two and three by a score of 25-19 both times.
Tech retaliated in a big way winning 25-10 to force a fifth set.
The Buffs fed off their home crowd and were able to come away with a 15-9 win to secure their first Big 12 win of the season.
UP NEXT: Tech will be back home to face two ranked opponents in No. 15 Arizona State and No. 22 TCU on Saturday and Wednesday, respectively.
