Antonelli Savattere went 3-for-5 with three RBIs to give Black a 2-0 series lead
LUBBOCK, Texas -- Antonelli Savattere went 3-for-5 with an inside-the-park home run to secure Team Black a 6-4 win in Game Two of the Fall Red/Black Series Friday afternoon at Dan Law Field at Rip Griffin Park.
Â
For the second straight game, Savattere shined, recording three extra-base hits (two doubles and the HR) and three RBI. His inside the park home run proved to be the game-winning hit as it gave his Black side a 5-4 lead.
Â
Team Red was led by outfielder Kyeler Thompson who went 4-6 with one RBI and two runs scored, while sophomore Logan Hughes had two singles to get Team Red off to a good start.
Â
Following a four-strikeout performance from starter Zach Crotchfelt over 2.2 innings pitched, four team Black relievers (Stephen Sepulveda, Johnathan Lowe, Connor Mohan and Carson Baugh) combined to throw the final six-and-one-third innings and scattered seven hits and one run.
Â
Junior Tyler Boudreau, the Team Red starter, held Team Black off the board during his four innings pitched, as the righty allowed just two hits in his four scoreless frames.
Â
Team Red struck first in the third inning when Ryan Jones walked and scored from first on an RBI double by Thompson. A Hughes single put runners on the corners for third baseman TJ Pompey who lifted the fourth pitch he saw from Crotchfelt for a sac-fly.
Â
The third and final run of three-run third inning came on two-out Hudson Parker single that scored Hughes.
Â
Friday's game remained 3-0 Red until back-to-back doubles off Trendan Parish from Dominic Archila and  Savattere put Team Black on the board in the fifth.  Parish went three innings and allowed just the one run and three hits. The right-hander struck out three.
Â
The game remained 4-1 Red until the eighth when a pair of walks by Schulze and Johnson set team Black up with runners on first and second and one out for Archila. The junior ripped the third pitch he saw from lefty Jorden Espinoza for a two-run double that cut the Red lead to 4-3. Â Â With Archila on second and one-out, Savattere ripped the inside-the-park home run that put Team Black on top for good, 5-4.
Â
After Mohan worked around a two-out walk in the eighth to keep his side on top heading to the ninth, Team Black used a lead off walk on a throwing error to put a runner in scoring position and one out for catcher Dylan Maxcey. Maxcey ripped the second offering he saw from reliever Zachary Fetchel for an RBI single that gave Team Black a 6-4 lead.
Â
Carson Baugh was brought in for the ninth inning and pitched a perfect three-up three-down inning to close out the 6-4 win for Team Black.
