Red Raiders drop final road match of the year to nationally-ranked TCU
FORT WORTH, Texas – The Red Raiders (13-15, 5-11) dropped their final road match of the season 3-0 to No. 22 TCU (19-7, 11-5) on Friday night in the Schollmaier Arena. Brynn Williams again led the team as she went for 13 kills. Hanna Borer dished out 24 assists and tacked on five digs. Potential National Player of the Year Melanie Parra finished with 14 kills and seven digs to lead the Horned Frogs.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
The Horned Frogs were all over the Red Raiders in set one, hitting .417 and siding out 90 percent of the time. Brynn Williams, again, was Tech's lifeline as she led all scorers with six kills and was in on a block. TCU held the Red Raiders to just a .031 hitting percentage as well to add to its dominance of the set.
Tech had TCU on the ropes all set and had them 24-22 after taking the lead at 18-17 but the Horned Frogs figured things out and went on a 4-0 run go up 2-0. The Red Raiders out-hit and out blocked TCU in the set, but the difference was made at the service line as the Horned Frogs recorded five aces.
Set three was all purple. TCU hit a blistering .375 while its defense limited Tech to hitting .000. TCU made short work of the third set, winning 25-11 to complete the sweep.
UP NEXT: The Red Raiders will head home for their final two matches of the season against Houston and Arizona on Nov. 27 and Nov. 29, respectively.
