March 31, 2024 | Women's Golf
After a difficult opening two rounds, Texas Tech utilized a strong round three performance to finish in seventh at Dornick Hills Country Club.
ARDMORE, Okla. - The Texas Tech women's golf team concluded its fourth tournament of the spring season on Sunday with round three of The Bruzzy at Dornick Hills Country Club. The Red Raiders fired a final-round 4-over-par 284, the best Sunday score among the 13 teams in action, moving up three spots on the tournament leaderboard to finish in seventh place.
Lauren Zaretsky continued her strong sophomore season, once again leading the Red Raiders by firing an even-par 70 to conclude the weekend, her 16th round of even par or better this season. Her 6-over-par final score was good enough for a T-14th place finish on the individual leaderboard, which is her team-high fifth top 20 finish of the season and 10th top 20 finish of her career.
Tech's countable scores toward the team total in round three were rounded out by impressive performances from Gala Dumez, Klara Hurtova, and Cameron Freund. Dumez fired a 1-over-par 71 on Sunday to finish her tournament at 11-over-par and tied for 25th place. The senior from France recorded just two bogeys in the third round, the fewest in any round by a Red Raider this weekend.
Hurtova also recorded a 1-over-par 71 in round three to close her tournament at 12-over-par and tied for 27th place. The highlight of the freshman's third round was firing four birdies in a seven-hole stretch, contributing to her tournament total of 10 birdies which was tied for the third most among the field of 72 players. Freund posted a third-round 2-over-par 72 to conclude her tournament at 12-over-par and tied for 27th place in just her fifth tournament of the season.
Libby Fleming, who competed as an individual, also recorded her best round of the weekend in round three on Sunday. The junior from California recorded a 4-over-par 74 to conclude her tournament at 22-over-par and tied for 58th place.
The Red Raiders will return to action, April 8-9, as they travel to Norman, Okla. for a match-play tournament at Jimmie Austin Golf Course.
