No. 3 TCU sweeps Red Raiders

FORT WORTH, Texas – The Texas Tech Red Raiders dropped their match to the No. 3-ranked TCU Horned Frogs on Saturday afternoon, 4-0, at the Bayard H. Friedman Tennis Center.
TCU (18-3, 4-2 Big 12) started out with an early lead after taking the doubles point against the Red Raiders (8-14, 0-6 Big 12). The No. 70 duo of Duncan Chan and Lui Maxted started off with a 6-3 victory against Reed Collier and Takeyasu Sekiguchi at court two.
Clinching the point for the Frogs was the tandem of Tomas Jirousek and Kaj Quirijns at court three over Niksa Arsic and Olle Wallin, 7-5. When the point was won, No. 24 Sebastian Abboud and Piotr Pawlak came back from being down 1-3 to lead Jack Pinnington and Pedro Vives at the top court, 5-4, before it went unfinished. Â
TCU was able to rally off three-consecutive singles wins en route to the sweep over Tech. The Horned Frogs' first win came at court six after Julian Alonso defeated Sekiguchi, 6-0, 6-2. Then, TCU added another point on the board when Jirousek overtook Pawlak at court four by a 6-2, 6-2 score. No. 54-ranked Vives clinched the win for TCU at court two over Collier after winning the match, 6-4, 6-4.
At court one, No. 43 Wallin was battling with No. 7 Pinnington. The Frog took the first set, 7-5, before Wallin led 4-2 in the second set when it went unfinished. At court three, Arsic won Tech's only set of the day after going up 6-3 in set one against No. 72 Maxted. The Horned Frog would force a third set when TCU won the match.
Up next, Texas Tech concludes the regular season with a Big 12 match against BYU on Saturday, April 13 at 2 p.m.
