Tech opens spring season on Friday

LUBBOCK, Texas – The Texas Tech Red Raiders open their spring season at the McLeod Tennis Center on Friday at 2 p.m. against Southern Miss. Texas Tech leads the all-time series against the Golden Eagles, 1-0, as the Red Raiders won the lone match by a 5-2 score on March 13, 1993.

The Red Raiders enters the spring dual season with 38 single wins and 17 doubles wins from the fall season. Throughout the fall, the team produced several standout moments including an undefeated, 13-0 performance at the SMU Invitational, a singles tournament title for Ludovico Vaccari and three-ranked wins. In doubles play, the duo of Niksa Arsic and Thiago Guglieri finished the fall season with nine wins and a run to the ITA Texas Regional finals. On the singles side, Felipe Pagnacco led the team with 11 victories.

The Golden Eagles, who also open their spring season this week, were led by Olle Noltorp in the 2024-25 season as he posted a 7-4 singles record and served as their most consistent performer. Ritabrata Sarkar (3–10) and Rasmus Becker (1–8) saw regular singles action and added valuable match experience, while Saheb Sodhi (1–8) contributed primarily in singles positions. Several members of the team traveling like, Eric Perkowski, Jay Temming, Kale Mize, Matei Varbanciu and Jose Murariu, recorded limited to no match statistics last season. This past fall, the No. 46-ranked doubles duo of Sodhi and Perkowski went 11-1 and posted two ranked wins, highlighted by a victory over a No. 11-ranked Ole Miss pair.
