
Tech back on the road for UTRGV Tournament

Red Raiders ride four-game winning streak into Edinburg
LUBBOCK, Texas – Texas Tech volleyball (5-1) is back on the road this weekend to compete in the UTRGV Tournament on Thursday and Friday. The Red Raiders will begin the weekend against host team UTRGV at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday before playing back-to-back games on Friday against Texas A&M – Corpus Christi at 12:30 p.m. and Houston Christian at 4 p.m.
The Vaqueros (4-2) will be playing their home opener against the Red Raiders and have been good at their place, going 20-5 in the UTRGV Fieldhouse over the last two seasons.
Tech is a combined 19-0 against the three opponents they will face this weekend and have played all these of the teams within the last two seasons including matches with TAMUCC (3-4) and HCU (2-4) last year.

PREVIOUSLY IN TECH VOLLEYBALL:
-Â Â Â Â Â Â Â The Red Raiders are coming off a 3-0 weekend in the Red Raider Classic taking wins over Northern Arizona, Florida Atlantic and Green Bay. Hanna Borer, Emily Merrick and Reagan Leinen took home All-Tournament honors with Leinen being named the MVP.
-Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Mia Wesley and Maddie Correa eclipsed 1,000 career digs this past weekend. Correa needs just 156 more digs to move into the top 10 in program history.
-Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Hanna Borer picked up back-to-back double-doubles with 31 assists and 12 digs against Northern Arizona followed up by a season-high 44 assists and 16 digs against Florida Atlantic.
NOTABLES:
-Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Leinen recorded a career-high four serving aces in back-to-back matches over the weekend and also set a career-high in points with 20.5 against Florida Atlantic.
-Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Emily Contreras set a career-high in digs with 16 against Northern Arizona.
-       Borer set a new career-high in kills with seven against Florida Atlantic.
-       Correa set a new career-high in assists with eight against Northern Arizona.
-Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Wesley sits just 27.5 points away from reaching 2,000 for her career.
-Â Â Â Â Â Â Â As a team, the Red Raiders are ranked No. 7 in the country for digs per set (18.56) and No. 24 in both assists per set (13.15) and kills per set (14.05).
