The Red Raiders will head to Miami to compete in the 305 Challenge
LUBBOCK, Texas – The Red Raiders (7-2) will head to Miami to compete in the 305 Challenge on Thursday through Saturday beginning with FIU at 5 p.m. in the Ocean Bank Convocation Center. Tech will then take the short drive to Coral Gables to face (RV) Miami at 5 p.m. on Friday and end the weekend with a match against No. 25 Arkansas at 11 a.m. Saturday.
Tech has not faced FIU (2-8) in its program history and only faced the Hurricanes (6-2) and the Razorbacks (8-1) once, winning both matches. The match against Miami came in 1980 while the match against Arkansas was in 1996, when sets were still played to 15.
Tony Graystone has beaten at least one ranked opponent in three of the last four seasons and will have a chance to improve on that as the Razorbacks come in ranked 25th in the country. The Hurricanes, who beat reigning National Champions Texas, were ranked until the most recent poll but are still receiving votes.
