Lady Raiders head to two tournaments over the weekend

LUBBOCK, Texas – The Lady Raiders head to two tournaments this weekend as they compete in College Station, Texas at ITA Central Sectionals and in Jacksonville, Fla., for the UNF Invitational.
Representing the Lady Raiders in the Sunshine State is Mariia Hlahola and Elena Daskalova, who will face off against players from the University of North Florida, Southern Miss and Eastern Kentucky. Heading to College Station to represent the Lady Raiders is Yekaterina Dmitrichenko and Hailey Murphy, who will compete against top talent from schools like Michigan, Baylor, Iowa and Oklahoma.
This season Hlahola has won seven doubles matches with various partners and Daskalova has won 10 of her 12 doubles matches. But this will be the first time that Hlahola and Daskalova will pair up in doubles this year. Last tournament, Daskalova collected some singles wins against notable players like Nebraska's Yuzu Miyoshi, 6-2, 6-4, and TCU's Tomi Main, 6-3, 6-4. During this tournament, Daskalova also went 3-0 in doubles, taking down Yu-Yun Chen and Bella Lewis from BYU, 6-3, with partner Arina Oreshchenkova. She also paired up with Ella Brownback to defeat Ema Mravcova and Valentina Ponce Serrano, 6-0, from Rice and then paired up with Murphy to beat the Notre Dame pair of Jessica Kovacik and Marilouise Van Zyl, 6-1.
In the ITA Texas Regionals, senior Murphy became one of three Lady Raiders in program history to reach the singles semifinals in this tournament before falling to No. 120-ranked Darya Schwartzman from Rice. Murphy also collected two doubles wins during this tournament with partner Hlahola. Dmitrichenko added some singles wins at the ITA Texas Regionals defeating Felicia Back from SFA, 6-4, 6-1, and Anna Perelman from Texas A&M, 6-4, 6-3, before falling in the Round of 16 against Rice's Nithesa Selvaraj, 6-3, 4-6, 7-6 (6).
The Lady Raiders will begin their tournaments on Thursday and will continue competing over the weekend. ITA Sectionals will be streamed on Playsight.
