November 09, 2025 | Women's Basketball
LUBBOCK, Texas – Junior Jalynn Bristow scored 22 points and senior Snudda Collins added 20 as the Texas Tech Lady Raiders defeated the Texas State Bobcats, 83-50, on Sunday afternoon in the United Supermarkets Arena.
Bristow posted a career-high in points for Tech (3-0), while adding a team-leading six rebounds, three blocks and three steals. She shot 9-for-17 (.529) from the field and went 3-for-5 (.600) from behind the arc. Collins scored a season-best in points and went 8-for-10 (.800) from the field and a perfect 4-for-4 from the three. She also totaled two blocks and four rebounds in the game.
Gemma Núñez once again led the way in assists after tallying 10, the first time since Dec. 5, 2023 against Sam Houston that a Lady Raider had 10 or more assists in a game. Sidney Love played in her first game with the Scarlet and Black and was perfect from the field, going 4-for-4 overall and 3-for-3 from the arc. Love added three assists and a couple steals against Texas State. Denae Fritz also recorded double-digits with 10 points and led the way with six boards.
As a team, the Lady Raiders had one of their best 3-point shooting games, going 13-for-24 (.542) from behind the arc and shooting 51.8 percent from the field (29-for-56). This is the Lady Raiders' first time since Jan. 11, 2023 against Oklahoma (.550) that they made 11 or more threes and shot above 50 percent. In addition, the Lady Raiders scored 30 points in the second quarter, their most in a quarter since 31 in the first against Houston on Dec. 30, 2023.
Bristow scored the first four points of the game with back-to-back layups. Texas State hit a 3-pointer to cut into the lead, but Tech followed with a three from Fritz to make it 7-5. The Bobcats went on a 4-0 run to tie things up until Bristow nailed a three before the media timeout. Collins secured a block on a 3-point attempt at 3:34 which helped lead to a Núñez fastbreak layup and free throw for the 13-9 advantage. Bristow added another three before the Bobcats scored the next five points. Fritz and Bailey Maupin connected with a couple of free throws each in response, then Fritz forced two turnovers to end the period with a 20-15 lead.
Neither team scored until over a minute into the next quarter when Texas State got a layup. Maupin followed with two free throws, then the Bobcats went on a 4-0 run to make it a one-point game, 22-21. Bristow recorded a successful and-one opportunity for three points before Love scored her first points as a Lady Raider with a triple for a seven-point lead. In the final two and a half minutes of the quarter, the Lady Raiders outscored the Bobcats 16-0 thanks to 3-pointers from Collins, Bristow and Kalysta Martin. During that span, Núñez totaled two steals and assists while Collins and Bristow recorded blocks.
Texas State made the first bucket of the second half, but Fritz responded with one behind the arc for a 21-point lead. It was a low scoring affair heading into the media timeout as the Bobcats outscored the Lady Raiders 5-4 in four minutes of play. Sarengbe Sanogo came out the timeout on fire, scoring four straight points on tough layups. The Lady Raiders went on a 9-2 run thanks to a layup by Bristow, threes from Collins and Love and free throws from Maupin. Texas State closed out the period with a couple of free throws, while Sanogo added a steal.
In the fourth quarter, the Lady Raiders began on a scoring run heading into the media timeout, scoring 10 of the 12 points in the period highlighted by layups from Jada Malone and Love and a 3-pointer from Collins. Texas State stopped the run with two free throws, then Collins nailed a jumper for the 80-47 lead. Love extended the lead with a three as Tech held Texas State to just seven points in the quarter, winning the game by an 83-50 score.
Up next, the Lady Raiders host the SMU Mustangs on Nov. 13 at 6 p.m. in the United Supermarkets Arena.

Head Coach Krista Gerlich
On the cohesion of the group and how to improve that the rest of the non-conference schedule…
"Yeah, I want them to continue to just really be connected on the court. They all get along so well off the court, that's fantastic, but when they're on the court, I want to see more huddles. I want to see more arm in arm length. I want to see more conversation amongst themselves, so that they can control momentum, if you will. You know, when we feel like we're losing momentum, that they can gather and get control of it without us having to call a timeout. Even when we've got it going, I want them to able to talk to one another to where they can demand things from one another… That they can get their attention and call out each other and know that it comes from a place of love and that they're all trying to get to the same spot, and I really see that happening."
Senior guard Snudda Collins
On her role when it comes to being more active early on in the game…
"Absolutely. I mean, I do it every day, and I try to come in every day at practice and do it. And like she [Coach Gerlich] said, I definitely had a few jitters the first two games, but this game, it was time for me to step up and get it going."
Senior guard Sidney Love
On how it feels to have played her first game in a Lady Raider uniform…
"It feels great to be with my team. We've been fighting together since June, so it's good to finally get to get out and do it when it really matters"
