February 19, 2025 | Men's Golf
LA QUINTA, Calif. – The No. 23 Texas Tech men's golf team soared up the team leaderboard on Wednesday, earning a runner-up finish at The Prestige. The team collectively came together, making the biggest jump of the 24 teams in action, vaulting six spots after starting the morning in eighth.
The Red Raiders shot a 12-under-par (272) team round, the second-lowest round shot by any team, trailing only the tournament champion, San Diego. All four of the Red Raiders countable scores on Wednesday were under-par.Â
While it was not the lowest round by a Red Raider in the final round, Charlie DeLong, who led the Red Raiders in scoring in the first two days, earned the team's top individual finish with a tie for fourth. He shot a 2-under-par 69 to conclude his impressive tournament 7-under-par (206), which marks his best finish of the 2024-25 season and third career top 10 at Texas Tech.
On Wednesday, freshman Connor Graham owned the Red Raiders' lowest score by firing a 4-under-par 67. Graham's impressive play had him finish in a tie for 11th out of the 120 players competing in the tournament. The freshman finished the 54-hole event 4-under-par (209). Graham's 67, on the 71-par course, included six birdies and a bogey-free front 9 holes. This final round extended Graham's streak of consecutive rounds scoring par or better to six.
Senior Calum Scott continued his resurgence by firing a 3-under-par 68. Scott's third round included six birdies and one hole-out eagle on the par-4 11th hole. The senior finished the 25th annual Prestige in a tie for 27th with a 54-hole score of 2-under-par 211.
Sophomore Price Hill bounced back to finish in a tie for 78th, making the biggest jump of the Red Raiders on Wednesday, improving 27 places on the leaderboard. Hill matched Scott's final-round score by carding a 3-under-par 68 after Tuesday's 9-over 80.Â
Sophomore Tim Wiedemeyer, who carded a 2-under-par 69, rounds out the Red Raiders who competed in the team tournament. Wiedemeyer's performance in the final round made the Red Raiders one of the two teams whose entire roster fired under par during Wednesday's round.Â
Texas Tech's second-place finish out of a stacked field of 24 teams in action marks the Red Raiders' third year in a row to earn a first or second-place finish at the annual event held at the PGA WEST Greg Norman Course. Tech won the event in 2024 and earned second-place finishes in 2023 and 2025.
