The Red Raiders will play for the series on Sunday
LUBBOCK, Texas – A week after his strongest career weekend start, a six-inning three-run performance against Cincinnati, righty Zane Petty was touched up for 11 runs in just 2.2 innings on Saturday afternoon as Tech dropped the second game of its weekend series to Baylor, 18-4 at Dan Law Field at Rip Griffin Park.
A night after turning in its best performance in a 9-2 win, Texas Tech (10-21, 6-8 Big 12) saw Baylor (22-12, 6-8 Big 12) strike for six first inning runs and 14 total runs over the first four innings of the ballgame to set up another key Sunday rubber match at Dan Law Field at Rip Griffin Park tomorrow.
The key performance for Baylor came from left fielder Wesley Jordan who went 4-for-4 with a home run in each of the first three innings. Jordan drove in six and walked, while former Red Raider Travis Sanders went 4-for-6 with three RBIs and two runs scored.
In the setback, the Red Raiders did get freshman Connor Mohan back on the mound for four innings. Mohan whiffed four and allowed just two earned runs in a bounce-back performance.
At the plate, junior Tracer Lopez continued his strong stretch at the plate, as the second baseman went 3-for-4 with a home run, two runs scored and an RBI. Lopez raised his average to .314 on the season, while Damian Bravo and Logan Hughes each drove in a run.
For Baylor, lefty Carson Bailey earned the victory, tossing six three-run (two earned) innings, while Caleb Bunch earned the save pitching three one-run innings.

The Red Raiders return to action on Sunday for the aforementioned rubber-game with the Bears. First pitch from The Rip is set for 1 p.m.
