Red Raiders lead Veritex Bank Collegiate after two rounds
April 07, 2025 | Women's Golf
DALLAS – For the second straight event, after the first two rounds, the Texas Tech women's golf team played its way into first place, this time following Monday's action at the Veritex Bank Collegiate at Trinity Forest Golf Club hosted by SMU. The Red Raiders hope to replicate what they did two weeks ago, as they led the Pinetree Women's Collegiate after two rounds and carried the momentum forward to claim their second win of the 2024-25 season the following day.
The Red Raiders will seek win No. 3 of the 2024-25 season on Tuesday, adding to their Red Raider Invitational victory in the fall and event last time out, with the Veritex Bank Collegiate final round set to start at 8:30 a.m. CDT with a shotgun start.Â
On Monday, Texas Tech shot 2-over-par 290 in the opening round and again 2-over-par 290 in the second round. The Red Raiders own a five shot lead over second-place teams Houston and Tulsa, with a 4-over-par 580 as the pair in second finished Monday at 9-over-par 585.Â
Texas Tech used a collective effort from Maja Ambroziak, Klara Hurtova, Kylee Loewe and Danique Stokmans, who each reside in the Top 11 of the individual leaderboard after the first 36 holes.
Ambroziak is tied for sixth place after shooting rounds of 72 (E) and 71 (-1). She is one of seven golfers among the 82 in action that finished Monday under par as she owns a 1-under 143.
Hurtova, who has picked up wins in each of the last two events she has played, sits tied for ninth after 36 holes. The sophomore is 1-over-par (145) following rounds of 1-under-par 71 and 2-over-par 74.
Loewe and Stokmans were responsible for the remaining two countable scores as the duo also excelled; both are tied for 11th. Loewe heads into Tuesday seeking her best career finish, looking to top a tie for 18th set earlier this season. Meanwhile, Stokmans, who is a first-year senior transfer, recorded her top finish as a Red Raider last time out, finishing T-12th, and is seeking to better that result heading into Tuesday's final round.
