LUBBOCK – Christian Anderson has announced his return to Texas Tech for his sophomore season.
An All-Big 12 Freshman Team selection, Anderson produced 10.6 points per game and tied for the team lead with 71 made 3-pointers during his freshman season. Anderson helped lead the Red Raiders (28-9, 15-5 Big 12) to the program's third trip to the Elite 8, scoring a career-high 22 points in the Sweet 16 victory over Arkansas. The 22 points gave him four games in his first collegiate season with 20-plus points after he also went off for 21 points against Arizona State and West Virginia in conference play and 20 in a non-conference win over Lamar.
Anderson led Tech with 46 made 3-pointers in Big 12 play, matching Davide Moretti for the fourth most in Big 12 games during a season in program history. Anderson hit a career-high five 3-pointers and had a career-best six assists at Kansas, helping Tech to a win in Allen Fieldhouse with him scoring 15 points (5-of-10 on 3-pointers). He played in 35 games as a true freshman, starting seven, including the final five of the season. Anderson finished the year with 18 games scoring in double figures, including going off for 19 against Arizona in the Big 12 Championship semifinals before his 22 points in the comeback victory over Arkansas in the NCAA Tournament.
In Big 12 play, Anderson averaged 11.4 points per game after making 46-of-109 (42.2%) on 3-point attempts during league play to lead Tech in makes, attempts and percentage from beyond the arc.
