Team/Event Notes:
- The Texas Tech men's golf team is set to appear in the NCAA Championships for the fifth straight year; it will be Tech's sixth appearance out of the last seven finals.
- The Red Raiders' streak of qualifying for five consecutive NCAA Championships ranks tied for the fifth-best streak in Division I golf. Texas Tech enters the 2025 event as one of seven programs with a streak of five or better.
- It will be the Red Raiders' 17th overall appearance at the NCAA Championships and 13th under head coach Greg Sands, who is in his 23rd season at the helm of the program.
- The Red Raiders' NCAA Championship appearances occurred the following years: '56, '59, '60, '76, '02, '06, '07, '09, '10, '13, '15, '18, '21, '22, '23, '24, '25.Â
- Tech's best finish as a program at the NCAA Championships is fifth, having done so three different times (2010, 2018, 2022). The Red Raiders fell in the quarterfinal round of match play on each of those occasions - per the NCAA, teams losing in the match play quarterfinals are credited with fifth-place finishes.
- The Red Raiders were selected to participate in the 2025 postseason on April 30 and were placed in the Urbana Regional as the 4-seed in a field of teams seeded one through 13. The selection marked the 23rd-straight regional appearance for the Red Raiders and 26th overall for the men's golf program.
- The Texas Tech men's golf team was selected on April 30 to participate in the 2025 NCAA Division I Men's Golf Championships, announced live on the Golf Channel. The Red Raiders were placed in the Urbana Regional as the 4-seed in a field of teams seeded one through 13.
- The Red Raiders clinched their trip to Carlsbad as the fifth-place finisher out of the regional, hosted by Illinois. Texas Tech used a strong round one (-5) at Atkins Golf Club to steer it to the finish line following a pair of rounds over-par. Despite rounds two and three, Tech joined the four other qualifying teams as the only five to shoot under par across the 54 holes at the Urbana Regional, among the 13 teams in the field.
- Texas Tech used a steady effort from senior Calum Scott to help advance from the Urbana Regional. Scott finished the event 6-under-par (207) to earn a tie for fifth place. It marked his first Top 5 finish since placing tied for second at the Baton Rouge Regional in 2024.Â
- Scott and Charlie DeLong will head to the championships in Carlsbad as the only two Red Raiders, of the six traveling in 2025, with playing experience at Omni La Costa last year. Scott finished tied for 11th, advancing to the fourth round of stroke play while DeLong served as a round three substitute.Â
- Freshman Connor Graham enters the season's final tournament owning the top scoring average (70.8), followed by sophomore Tim Wiedemeyer (71.7), and seniors Scott (71.7) and DeLong (72.1).
- Per the most recent PGA Tour University rankings released on May 14, Calum Scott checked in at No. 17 and Charlie DeLong at No. 35.
- After the NCAA D-I Men's National Championship, the top-25 players in the final PGA TOUR University Ranking earn membership on the PGA TOUR (No. 1), Korn Ferry Tour (Nos. 2-10), or PGA TOUR Americas (Nos. 11-25).
- The No. 1 player will earn PGA TOUR membership for the remainder of the current season, as well as the following season.
- Players finishing Nos. 2-5 are exempt on the Korn Ferry Tour for the remainder of the current season, and they are exempt into the Final Stage of PGA TOUR Q-School presented by Korn Ferry.
- Players finishing Nos. 6-10 earn conditional status on the Korn Ferry Tour for the remainder of the current season, and exempt status for the North America Swing of PGA TOUR Americas. They are exempt into the Second Stage of PGA TOUR Q-School presented by Korn Ferry.
