
Tech, LSU to meet in Fort Worth

LUBBOCK – Texas Tech is returning to Dickies Arena where it will play LSU on Sunday, December 7 in Fort Worth during the US LBM Coast to Coast Challenge with the Red Raiders riding a three-game winning streak in the series. The game time and television designation will be announced at a later date. The fifth annual US LBM Coast to Coast Challenge will also include TCU playing North Texas after the Red Raider game.
Tickets for the 2025 US LBM Coast to Coast Challenge in the Texas Tech fan allotment will go on sale to the general public at 10 a.m. on Thursday. An exclusive presale will be made available to Red Raider Club members and Red Raider Basketball season ticket holders beginning at 10 a.m. on Tuesday. Links to purchase tickets in the Texas Tech fan allotment will be emailed to donors and fans by the Texas Tech Athletics Ticket Office the morning of the presale and general public on-sale.
Tech owns a 6-3 all-time advantage in the series, most recently with a 76-68 win on January 28, 2023 in a Big 12-SEC Challenge matchup in Baton Rouge. The two programs have never met in a neutral-court matchup in a series which began with the Red Raiders earning a 79-72 win back on December 16, 1957 in Baton Rouge.
LSU is coming off a season where it went 14-18 overall and were 3-15 in SEC play. The Tigers played two Big 12 programs last season, earning wins over Kansas State and UCF. Matt McMahon is entering his fourth season leading the program after seven seasons at Murray State. McMahon is 199-120 overall in his head coaching career and is currently 45-53 at LSU.
The Red Raiders will be playing in Dickies Arena for the third straight season after picking up a win over Vanderbilt in 2023 before falling to Texas A&M last season in a pair of non-conference matchups against SEC opponents. Tech is currently 1-2 at Dickies Arena with a non-conference loss to Houston on November 29, 2020 in its first trip to the Fort Worth arena. Â
The Red Raiders finished last season with a 28-9 overall record, including being second in the Big 12 standings with a 15-5 conference record. Tech matched the program record with a No. 3 seed in the NCAA Tournament and advanced to the program's third Elite 8. The Red Raiders are 51-20 over the past two seasons under head coach Grant McCasland with back-to-back trips to the national tournament.
