Red Raiders earn second fifth-set win of the weekend
FLAGSTAFF, Arizona – Texas Tech (6-3) bounced back from last night's match to take down UC San Diego (1-8) in a five-set match, the Red Raiders second of the weekend.
Ashlyn Bellamy led the team with 17 kills as Addie Kanouff recorded 14. Reagan Engler recorded 10 kills for the ninth straight match as Peyton Dunn recorded a double-double with 35 assists and 13 digs.
Sierra Grizzle again led the team with 17 digs and had a team-high four aces. Aliyah McDonald and Tatum Johnson both had five kills and two blocks to round out the major scorers for the Red Raiders.
How it Happened:
The Red Raiders took a commanding first set victory, winning 25-16 thanks to Bellamy's nine kills in the set.
UC San Diego rallied back and took a late lead that they would not relinquish as they evened the match 1-1 taking a 25-23 set win.
Tech would regain the lead with a 25-20 win before UCSD forced a fifth set with a 25-21 win.
The Red Raiders were in total control in the fifth set as they won 15-7 to improve to 6-3 as they recorded their third-straight 2-1 weekend.
UP NEXT: The Red Raiders will have their first home match of the season as they host the Red Raider Classic next weekend in Lubbock.
