September 14, 2025 | Men's Tennis
WACO, Texas – The Red Raiders wrapped up another solid weekend at the Waco Fall Tennis Classic, highlighted by a strong performance from singles flight champion Ludovico Vaccari.
In singles play, Vaccari led the way for the Red Raiders with three wins, beginning with a 6-2, 7-5 victory over SMU's Meethre Barot before battling it out in a three-set match win over Kabeer Kapasi from Rice, 6-3, 3-6, 7-5. In the finals of the first flight, Vaccari capped off his weekend by dominating Texas A&M's Ritesh Patil, 6-3, 6-4, in a straight-set win.
After a loss against Blake Anderson of Baylor, 6-4, 6-1, on day one, senior Sebastian Abboud rallied to defeat Yair Sarouk (Rice), 2-6, 6-3, 6-3, before fighting to win a tough tiebreaker battle against Alexander Safford of SMU, 3-6, 6-3, 7-6 (6), on the final day of competition.
Thomas Van Den Dooren and Felipe Pagnacco each added singles wins of their own at the tournament. Van Den Dooren picked up a win against Jesse Gothelf of the University of Texas Arlington, 6-4, 6-2, while Pagnacco advanced to his flight finals with wins over Baylor's Arman Zamani, 6-4, 1-6, 6-2, and UTSA's Ben Chetewy Ungar, 6-3, 3-2 (retired).
The Red Raiders found success in doubles play, as both teams collected victories. The duo of Abboud and Van Den Dooren added two wins, including an 8-5 victory over UTA's Saul Berdullas and Gothelf and an 8-4 victory against Texas A&M's Egor Gorin and Silva. The duo also pushed Rice's Santiago Navarro and Noey Do to a tiebreak before narrowly falling, 8-7 (6). Meanwhile, Vaccari and Pagnacco picked up an 8-5 win over ACU's Luis Jose Nakamine and Merse Deli, showing promise against tough competition.
