
Red Raiders shine in Sunshine State

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The Texas Tech men's tennis team wrapped up a competitive weekend in Florida with strong singles and doubles performances against Barry, Mercer, North Florida and Tennessee. The Red Raiders secured multiple victories across the lineup, highlighted by four singles wins on opening day and a trio of doubles wins throughout the weekend.

In singles action, Tech started hot against Barry with a clean sweep. Niksa Arsic rallied for a three-set victory over Thomas Machado, 4-6, 7-5, 6-4, while Felipe Pagnacco also battled through three sets to defeat Antonin Chapius, 6-3, 2-6, 6-3. Thiago Guglieri cruised to a 6-1, 6-1 win over Leo Caill and Thomas Van Den Dooren closed the round with a 4-2 advantage before his opponent retired.

The Red Raiders' momentum carried into matches against Mercer and host-team North Florida, where Arsic beat Mercer's Alex Aldaz, 6-4, 6-1, and Pagnacco overtook Mercer's Amen Prince Gandonou, 6-3, 6-2. Van Den Dooren earned another victory, defeating Enrique Pena of North Florida, 4-6, 6-0, 6-1, while Guglieri pushed his North Florida opponent, Youssef Labbene to three sets before falling, 6-4, 3-6, 4-6. The competition concluded with tight battles against Tennessee as freshman Van Den Dooren completed a perfect, 3-0 singles weekend with a win over Volunteer Woohyuk Chang, 6-2, 5-7, 6-4.

In doubles, the Red Raiders picked up three strong wins. Guglieri and Arsic teamed up for a pair of victories, defeating North Florida's No. 80-ranked tandem of Enrique Pena and Andreas Scott, 6-4, and later topping Tennessee's Alejandro Moreno and Piotr Siekanowicz, 6-4. Pagnacco and Van Den Dooren also added a 7-5 win over Barry's Hayze Loop and Cooper Dillon.

Up next, the Red Raiders head to Waco, Texas for the second time this season as they compete at the Big 12/SEC Challenge on Oct. 3-5.
