January 15, 2026 | Women's Basketball
LUBBOCK, Texas – The No. 17 Texas Tech Lady Raiders welcome the Kansas State Wildcats for a game on Saturday at 1 p.m. at the United Supermarkets Arena. K-State leads the all-time series against Texas Tech with a 31-17 record. The Wildcats have won the last three meetings, taking last year's matchup by a 77-57 score in Manhattan, Kan.
As of Thursday afternoon, the Lady Raiders are the only team in the country with 19 wins and one of three teams, including Vanderbilt and UConn, to remain undefeated on the season. With the win over Houston, the Lady Raiders tied the program record single-season win streak of 19 wins, which was set in the 1992-93 national championship season. The 6-0 Big 12 start is also the first time since 2000-01 to begin conference with that record. The Lady Raiders last went 7-0 to start conference play in the 1995-96 season, which Tech can do today.
Senior Denae Fritz has played on another level the last four games. Over these four games, she is averaging 12.0 points per game and 6.0 rebounds per game, while totaling five blocks, six assists and a team-best 11 threes and 13 steals. Fritz is second on the team in field goal percentage, going 61.5 percent from the field (16-for-26), and 61.1 percent from behind the arc (11-for-18). Her 24 rebounds are second on the team over these four games as well. In Big 12 play so far, all of Fritz' defensive assignments were averaging 14.2 points per game going into the game against Tech… Fritz is holding them, on average, to 1.8 points per game.
The Lady Raiders are one of the best teams in the country on defense. Tech ranks 13th in the nation and second in the Big 12, holding teams to 53.6 points per game. The Lady Raiders are holding teams to 23.7 percent from behind the arc as well as 33.1 percent from the field to rank sixth nationally in both categories. The Lady Raiders' 5.7 blocks per game is good for 14th nationally, while they are forcing 20.68 turnovers per game to check in at third in the Big 12.
The Lady Raiders have recorded eight or more blocks in three of the last four games. Posting a season-high of 11 against Arizona on Jan. 3, Texas Tech also had eight against Cincinnati and seven against Houston. In the last four games, Jalynn Bristow leads the team with nine blocks, followed by both Sarengbe Sanogo and Snudda Collins with six each. Fritz is just behind with five blocks of her own.
