LUBBOCK – ESPN's College GameDay Covered by State Farm is coming back to our city.
ESPN has announced the popular pregame show will take place on the home court of the Texas Tech Red Raiders on Saturday, January 24 at United Supermarkets Arena. Hosted by Rece Davis and featuring Jay Bilas, Jay Williams, Andraya Carter, and Seth Greenberg, the show airs live from 10-11 a.m. on Saturday mornings and is making its first on-campus production of the basketball season. Texas Tech and Houston are set to play at 5:30 p.m. in their second matchup against each other this season.Â
Admission is free and students and fans are encouraged to fill the stands for ESPN's College GameDay to help create an electric environment. Fans also do not need a game ticket to the basketball game to attend the 60-minute GameDay show. ESPN College GameDay is making its second trip to Lubbock this year after also featuring Texas Tech Football in November and is returning for its basketball show for the first time since 2018 and second time ever. Â
Doors at the northwest and southwest entrances at the USA will open at 9 a.m. on Saturday. Seating is not reserved and fans are encouraged to arrive early. Longtime presenting sponsor State Farm is proud to continue its on-site activations this season, including its GameDay bus and Half-Court Shot promotion, which offers fans an opportunity to win $19,000. Â
For parking, the West Lot will be open for public use for the GameDay show. Please note following the GameDay show, United Supermarkets Arena will be cleared and fans without a donor parking permit in the West Lot will be required to move their vehicle by noon. Access to the North and South Lots will require a donor parking permit. Fans are reminded to go clear for all Texas Tech basketball events which includes the ESPN College GameDay show. The clear bag policy provides a safer atmosphere and speeds up the entry process into the United Supermarkets Arena.
"We're excited to get back on the road and return College GameDay to campus for the first time this season, starting with our first visit to Lubbock since 2018," said coordinating producer Aaron Katzman. "The energy college basketball brings on campus is unmatched, and with this team leading the conversation, we're looking forward to showcasing the players, rivalries and storylines that make the sport special."
