IRVING, Texas – Texas Tech infielder Robin Villeneuve and outfielder Logan Hughes were named Preseason All-Big 12 selections, by the league's coaches.
A pair of transfers prior to the 2025 season, both Villeneuve and Hughes project to fill out the middle of a revamped and retooled Texas Tech lineup in 2026.
One of the top prospects for the 2026 MLB Draft, Hughes will look to build upon his first campaign in Lubbock, that saw the outfielder hit .327 with 19 home runs and 58 RBIs. The left-handed hitter slugged a team-best .697 and hit 11 of his 19 home runs in Big 12 play. The Florida native hit .376 in league contests recording a team-best 1.196 OPS.
Tech's other All-Big 12 honoree, Villeneuve, will also look to replicate a strong first season in Lubbock as the French-Canadian hit .365 with 12 home runs and 49 RBIs. Villeneuve, .365 average led the Red Raider squad and is the highest returning average of any Big 12 play.
Not just a slugger, Villeneuve made just four errors defensively, as the first baseman recorded a fielding percentage of .991.
Hughes, Villeneuve and the Red Raiders open the 2026 season one week from Friday (Feb. 13) morning against Oklahoma. First pitch from Globe Life Field is set for 11 a.m. Â
