February 06, 2026 | Men's Tennis
LUBBOCK, Texas – The Texas Tech Red Raiders host a doubleheader against the UTRGV Vaqueros and the New Mexico State Aggies on Saturday at the McLeod Tennis Center. The match against New Mexico State will start at 11 a.m. and the match against UTRGV will begin at 4 p.m. tomorrow.
Â
Texas Tech (2-2) split its last two matches, dropping a close 4-3 decision to undefeated Nebraska before earning a home win over Wichita State, 4-0. Against the Huskers, the Red Raiders picked up singles victories from Niksa Arsic, Sebastian Abboud and Thiago Guglieri but fell after Nebraska claimed the doubles point and won three singles matches in deciding sets.
Â
Tech responded with a strong performance versus Wichita State, opening with two doubles wins and adding singles points from Felipe Pagnacco and Ludovico Vaccari, who earned the first-ranked win of his career over No. 66 Zaid Al Mashni. Arsic then clinched the match at court one.
Â
Texas Tech has dominated its all-time series against UTRGV, holding a 17-2 record, including a 7-0 sweep in their most recent matchup to open last season. The Red Raiders are 7-0 at home in this series and have consistently posted decisive wins over UTRGV.
Â
New Mexico State has rarely beaten Tech in men's tennis. Prior to their recent meeting, Texas Tech held a commanding 30-4 all-time record over the Aggies, with New Mexico State's only previous win in the series coming from last year in Lubbock, 2-4.
