Tech, TCU set for weekend series in Fort Worth
March 26, 2026 | Baseball
The Red Raiders and Horned Frogs will meet for the 17th-straight season
FORT WORTH – Fresh off a crisp 12-2 (8 inn.) run-rule win over New Mexico on Tuesday afternoon, Texas Tech Baseball returns to DFW for the third time in seven weeks when they face TCU in Fort Worth for the third Big 12 Conference Week.
In the win over New Mexico, freshman Adam Hayes retired the first eight batters he faced before tossing five shutout innings of four hit ball. Hayes did not walk a batter and struck out four to earn his first career win.
Sitting at 4-2 after series wins at Arizona (Mar. 20-22) and vs. Kansas (Mar. 13-15), the Red Raiders will seek their sixth-straight series win and third-straight Big 12 series win this weekend in Fort Worth.
If the Red Raiders are successful in accomplishing that feat, it will mark the first time since 2018 that Tech has opened Big 12 play with three-straight series wins.
The Red Raiders could also win back-to-back road Big 12 series for the first time since 2022 when the Red Raiders won two-of-three at Baylor (Apr. 29-May 1) and swept No. 3 Oklahoma State (May 13-15) the following week.

HEADLINES IN 1-2-3:
* After a successful Tuesday afternoon win over UNM (12-2), In the game, the Red Raiders got five shutout innings from Adam Hayes and six first inning tuns. The Red Raiders hits the road once again this weekend when they head back to DFW for a weekend series at TCU. Sitting at 4-2 after series wins over Kansas and at Arizona, the Red Raiders will seek three-straight Big 12 series wins and six-straight overall series wins this weekend in Fort Worth. The Red Raiders enter the weekend at 4-2 overall in Big 12 play, just one full game behind UCF and West Virginia who co-lead the league at 5-1 overall. Â
* Boasting one of the nation's top offenses, the Red Raiders put up 12 runs in both the Sunday and Tuesday wins over UofA and UNM. The double-figure scoring games were the 14th and 15th 10+ run games of the season. For comparison purposes, the Red Raiders in 53 games last season recorded 10+ runs just 13 times a season ago. Texas Tech has scored 265 total runs this season, just 77 runs shy of their 2025 total of 342 runs. Overall this season, the Red Raiders have scored at least three runs in every game and have scored at least six runs in 21-straight games (program record)
Â
*And while the Tech offense certainly boasts some fire power (all nine starters are hitting over .335), the story of the season thus far for the Red Raiders is the lack of reliance on the home run ball to score runs. In 2025, the Red Raiders scored 120 of their 344 runs on the long ball or 34.9 percent of all runs. In 2026, the home run has accounted for just 24.5 percent of all runs (65-of-265) Tech has scored. Since going homer-less and winless in all three games in Arlington, the Red Raiders are now 4-1 when they don't hit a home run since (including Tues vs. UNM and last Friday vs. UofA) the opening weekend.

BACK END OF THE BULLPEN TAKING FORMÂ
As the Red Raiders inch toward the halfway point of the season, the backend of the Texas Tech bullpen has begun to take shape, as a quartet of Tech relievers and a pair of two-guys have staked their claim to be key contributors to the late game puzzle of head coach Tim Tadlock. Led by a pair of seniors in Jonny Lowe and Jacob Rodgers the Red Raider backend of the bullpen of the aforementioned Lowe and Rogers as well as Will Jordan and Logan Bevis has combined to make 36 appearances this season. Lowe, who earned the win Sunday afternoon at Arizona, has made a team-high 10 appearances pitching to a 1-0 record and a 3.68 ERA. Lowe has whiffed 16 batters over his 14.2 innings this season and has allowed just six total runs this season. Lowe struck out two in a 1-2-3 inning against UNM Tuesday. Another one of the Red Raider late game arms, Jordan, has also pitched well this season as in nine appearances and 10.1 total innings the righty has allowed just three runs. Jordan earned the save on Sunday his first. He also became the first Red Raider to earn a save this season on Sunday.
