Hurdles shine on day two of NCAA Outdoor Championships

Two Red Raiders secured their spots in the 100m hurdles finals for this Saturday
EUGENE, Ore. – The Texas Tech women's track and field team completed day two of the 2026 NCAA Outdoor Championships Thursday evening at Hayward Field.

The first event of the day for Tech was the 4x100 semifinals as the team of Alyssa Colbert, Olayinka Olajide, Anita Afrifa and Mekenze Kelley claimed the final qualifying time going 43.11.

Symoria Adkins and Tonie-Ann Forbes secured their lanes for Saturday's 100m hurdles final. Adkins finished sixth overall going 12.84, while Forbes ran a time of 12.86. Both Red Raiders grabbed the final two qualifying times.
Vanessa Balde made it through in the 400m hurdles with one of the next best three times as she finished sixth overall with a time of 55.77 – No. 4 all-time Texas Tech.

Notables
·      Collinique ran a 400m time of 51.96 (22nd), No. 5 all-time for Tech
·      Despite placing 19th in the 3k steeplechase, Lily Mather registered a 16-second PB at 10:01.88, putting her No. 2 all-time for Tech
