Moseley dominates at Central American and Caribbean

LUBBOCK, Texas – Representing Belize, Texas Tech forward Josiah Moseley dominated with 23.8 points and 8.6 rebounds per game at the Central American and Caribbean Games in Santo Domingo – capped by recording a double-double with 27 points and 14 rebounds to lead his team to a bronze medal after an 80-70 win over Mexico on Monday night at Arena Banreservas.
Finishing the game 11-for-18 from the field and scoring 17 points by halftime in the bronze medal win, Moseley recorded his third double-double of the tournament with the performance. In five games in the Dominican Republic, he finished the tournament shooting 49-for-76 (64.5 percent).
Moseley opened the tournament with two straight double-doubles, going off for 31 points and 10 rebounds to begin group play with a win over Nicaragua before providing 19 points and 10 rebounds in a loss to Puerto Rico. Moseley followed with 22 points and four rebounds in a win over Guatemala in a game where he shot 9-for-10 from the field and then had 20 points, five rebounds and three blocked shots in a loss to Puerto Rico.
Moseley is entering his second season at Texas Tech following a sophomore season where he averaged 5.5 points and 3.6 rebounds in 14 games played. Moseley missed the first 19 games of the season due to injury and made his Red Raider debut by providing six points and six rebounds in a home win over No. 6 Houston. He scored 10 points and recorded a career-high with nine rebounds in the road win at No. 4 Iowa State and then scored a career-high 16 points against Akron in the NCAA Tournament First Round. His 16-point performance in the national tournament came on him shooting 7-for-8 from the field and was followed by him providing six points against Alabama to finish the season.
A junior from Round Rock, Texas, Moseley has played in 44 collegiate games after starting his career at Villanova. Moseley also represented Belize in the FIBA U18 AmeriCup 2024 – earning All-Second Team Tournament honors after averaging 20.2 points per game.
