Roger Woods is in his first season as a Texas Tech graduate manager.
A Jackson, Mississippi native, Woods played for head coach Chris Beard at Little Rock where he averaged 10.1 points and 4.3 rebounds during his senior season where he earned All-Sun Belt honors and was the Sun Belt Conference Tournament MVP. Woods played at Little Rock for two seasons after beginning his collegiate career at Southeastern Louisiana and Mississippi Gulf Coast.
Woods helped lead the Trojans to the Sun Belt championship and the NCAA Tournament where they knocked off Purdue in the opening round. He scored a career-high 30 points in a win over Arkansas State leading into the postseason and then went for 19 points on 8-for-10 shooting in the Sun Belt title game against Louisiana-Monroe before scoring 13 in the win over Purdue. As a junior at Little Rock, Woods averaged 11.9 points and 6.5 rebounds per game.
Prior to joining Beard at Texas Tech, Woods gained coaching experience at Chipola College and as a volunteer with Brookwood Elite (AAU). Woods, who graduated from Provine High School, earned his bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice from Little Rock in 2016 and is currently pursuing an Interdisciplinary Studies graduate degree.
