Texas Tech alumna Anna Dong enters her third season on the Red Raiders' staff in 2026-27 after being named Manager of Sports Operations by head coach JoJo Robertson on Aug. 27, 2024.
As Manager of Sports Operations, Dong assists with the day-to-day planning and execution of team practices while also providing individualized instruction to student-athletes before, during and after practice throughout both the season and offseason. Drawing on her experience as a Red Raider, she plays an integral role in player development and the program's daily operations.
A native of Guangzhou, China, Dong competed for Texas Tech from 2018-23 and capped her career by earning Big 12 Scholar-Athlete of the Year honors while helping the Red Raiders qualify for the 2023 NCAA Championships, the program's fourth NCAA Championship appearance under Robertson, in her fifth and final season as a student-athlete. During her playing career, she earned an individual title at the 2023 Columbia Classic and helped Texas Tech capture five team tournament championships. Dong was a five-time Women's Golf Coaches Association All-American Scholar and was named to the 2019 Academic All-Big 12 Rookie Team before earning Academic All-Big 12 First Team honors in each of the next four seasons. Dong, along with Iowa State football's Brock Purdy, was named a recipient of the 2021-22 Big 12 Sportsmanship Award, recognizing student-athletes who displayed an extraordinary degree of sportsmanship, community service and academic achievement.
Before returning to Lubbock, Dong spent her first season as a coach working with the SMU women's golf program. As an assistant coach during the 2023-24 season, she helped guide the Mustangs to the American Athletic Conference championship and an NCAA Championship berth. SMU finished tied for second at the NCAA Bryan Regional to advance to the NCAA Championships at Omni La Costa, where the Mustangs placed 24th.
During Dong's second season on the Texas Tech staff, the Red Raiders advanced to the NCAA Championships for the fifth time in program history after earning a berth through the Ann Arbor Regional, grabbing the fifth and final spot as the regional's eight-seed. The appearance at Omni La Costa marked Dong's third NCAA Championship overall, including one as a student-athlete and two as a coach. The 2025-26 season also saw Lauren Zaretsky become the program's first All-Big 12 selection since Amy Taylor in 2022.
In Dong's first season on the Texas Tech staff, the Red Raiders hosted the 2025 NCAA Lubbock Regional. Klara Hurtova earned an at-large bid to compete as an individual, representing Texas Tech in NCAA postseason play.
