LUBBOCK, Texas - The Texas Tech University Women?s Golf Team will host the 1999 Jeannine McHaney Memorial Tournament Monday and Tuesday at the Lubbock Country Club.
The Red Raiders will welcome Texas schools SMU, UTEP, Texas A&M, Hardin-Simmons, Lamar and Sam Houston State to the two-day event. Also joining the field are Big 12 rivals Colorado, Nebraska, Kansas State and Oklahoma, in addition to Colorado State and Wichita State.
The 13-team field will challenge the par-72, 6,102-yard Lubbock Country Club beginning with 36 holes on Mon., Oct. 11. The tournament will conclude with Tuesday?s 18-hole final round. Action begins at 8:30 on Monday and 8 a.m. on Tuesday. Tuesday?s round will begin at the #1 and #10 tees.
SMU, Oklahoma, Lamar, Wichita State and Hardin-Simmons all competed in the event last season. Oregon State won the team title, while Red Raider Brooke Lowrance captured the individual honors.
?We are very excited to be hosting this event on our home course,? Texas Tech director of golf Jeff Mitchell said. ?It should be a confidence booster to play at home. Lubbock Country Club is in excellent shape and should lend itself to some great golf.?
Texas Tech freshman Stephanie Dukes (North Richland Hills, Texas) has impressed early in her career this season. Dukes tied for sixth in her first collegiate event at the Big 12 Preview in Lincoln, Neb., in September and currently leads the team with a 76 stroke per round average. Jamie Vannoy (Sandy, Oregon) and Priscillia Hunt (Phoenix, Arizona) are averaging 76.3 and 79.8 strokes per round, respectively. Vannoy has Tech?s only other individual top 20 finish this season, a tie for 15th at the Big 12 Preview.
