Women's Golf Tied for Fifth at NMSU Invitational

LAS CRUCES, N.M. - The Texas Tech women's golf team is in a four-way tie for fifth place after the first round of the Diet Coke-Roadrunner Invitational, hosted by New Mexico State.
The Red Raiders, after a 25-over-par round of 313, are tied for fifth with Baylor, Oklahoma and Texas-El Paso. TCU has a nine-shot lead after a 7-over 295. Host New Mexico State (304) is second. Missouri (308) and SMU are tied for third. The tournament continues on Saturday on the par-72, 6,117-yard University Golf Course.
Texas Tech junior Jamie Vannoy shot a 2-over round of 74 and is in a five-way tie for fifth, five shots behind TCU's Angela Stanford. Freshman Jennifer Newhouse shot a 5-over 77 to tie for 13th. Senior Brooke Lowrance, junior Alana Soliz and sophomore Priscillia Hunt each shot rounds of 9-over 81 to tie for 46th.
TCU's Stanford shot a 3-under round of 69. New Mexico State's Rachel Duncan, and SMU's Kelley King are three shots off the pace after even-par rounds of 72. Colorado State's Kristin Clarke is fourth after a 1-over 74.
