Cross Country With Strong Showing At Chile Pepper Festival

Junior Miguel Bautista and senior Jocelyn Caro led the way for the Red Raiders in Arkansas.
FAYETTEVILLE – The Texas Tech men's & women's cross country teams secured fourth and seventh-place overall team finishes, respectively, on Saturday at the Chile Pepper Festival in Arkansas.
Junior Miguel Bautista and senior Jocelyn Caro clinched the top two times for the Red Raiders in Fayetteville with Bautista coming in third in the men's 8K with a season-best of 23:38:02. Caro picked up a top 10 finish in the women's 5K in seventh in 16:40:78. This is the third-straight meet in which Bautista has finished in the top-three spots.
Pacing in the fourth place spot behind Bautista was senior Benard Keter at 23:47:31. Following Keter for the men's team was: Ebenether Wondaferew (24:53-SB), Nathan Gift (25:16:16), Joacim Zuniga (25:33:83-SB), Eduardo Trevizo (25:38:54), Nick Rivera (25:41:02-SB), Clark Blunt (25:44:81-SB), Todd Mickey (25:53:9-SB) and Shea Whatley (26:45:52).
Behind Caro in the women's race was: Jasmine Torres (17:51:92), Rianna Randolph (18:08:01), Denae Chapman (18:09:99), Hattie Schunk (18:26:28), Lynda Hanson (18:27:9), Maggy Mulholland (18:31:63), Bret Leigh Nance (18:41:68), Jessica Gallardo (18:51:54) and Kaylee Amershek (19:06:13).
Next, the Red Raiders will pack up and head to California in two weeks for the Santa Clara Bronco Invitational on Saturday, Oct. 15.
